Just wanted to give you a big MISS YOU. I took a clinic this last week and I came away knowing what a wonderful foundation you gave me Marv. I knew that I was improving and of course Sharene too, but I never really quite knew to what degree until this clinic. I don't want to sound too confident because I know I have a long way to go yet, but all the things you had us doing were exactly what we worked on in this clinic, so a BIG Thank you for all you taught me. Just wanted you guys to know that, and wish you all the best over there on the East side.
Take Care
Rhonda
Marv has been my trainer for about 2 1/2 years or so, and every time i went up the the quiet little ranch nestled in the woods called M T Pockets Ranch, I wondered what are we going to do today? Will my horse fight me? or behave? Marv has helped me every step of the way with my reining career.
Everyday I think about how much Marv has really helped me and shaped my riding and how much he has done for me, there is no way to measure how much gratitude that I have for him. With out going up to that little quiet ranch nestled in the woods, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to really experience Reining and be around the people that have helped me.He helped me find my wonderful horse Doc. He is still helping me with Doc, getting us ready for the big shows and so I can win and make M T Pockets Ranch proud."

Ofcourse i cant forget about Tish, she has made sure that I'm competing in the correct classes, told me about upcoming events, suggested costume class, and she is just a great person to be around and a great rider!
Marv gives you more than you expect & I always felt that I got more than I had hoped & paid for. I am thoroughly delighted by the patience, diversity & generosity of Marv's knowledge & his ability to transmit those qualities to both horse & rider. Results were measureable & lasting for both horse & rider. Greatest bang for the buck I ever got in the horse world. Great environment & facilities........Bill Iny & Cajun."

Marv has been our friend and trainer for several years now. We are so Blessed by his ability at starting our young colts, he has a real understanding of how the animals think and why they react as they do.
Marv has shown us many ways of enjoying riding that we had not experienced before.
We have learned different techniques such as reining that has allowed us to learn the control of the horse that we didn't understand before.
While watching Marv ride and then riding with him it has given us a confidence and an enjoyment that we did not have before.
We highly recommend Marv for the training of both you and your horse.

I met Marv Lagerwey in 2003 when I contacted him about training my two-year-old filly Gertie. He graciously invited me to visit MT Pockets Ranch so that I could view his training program first hand. Since Gertie is only the second foal I have raised from birth, I wanted to do a better job with her than I had done with her mother. Gertie spent two months with Marv and got an excellent start in learning the basic maneuvers a horse should know: walk, trot, lope, whoa, back, turn on the forehand, turn on the haunches, side pass and two track.
After Gertie got her start with Marv, I began taking lessons so that I would feel more confident in riding her on my own. Although I have been riding most of my life, I never realized what and how much I didn't know until Marv began to teach me. Because of work responsibilities, my riding time is limited and Marv patiently helps me work through the challenges I face as a rider. He pushes me to try things that are difficult for me and go beyond my comfort zone so that I can improve. I am actually learning how to do flying lead changes now and it is scary and fun and exciting!
I have been riding Gertie now for almost three years. Thanks to Marv's help, we have come a very long way as a team. I showed Gertie at a NWRA show in a beginner reining class for the first time in 2005, a long-time dream of mine that has finally become a reality. With Marv's help, I hope to continue to improve every year.
Marv has become both a mentor and friend to me. Both he and Tish have been incredibly encouraging and supportive. When I have those long work weeks, I always have my lessons to look forward to-to keep me sane and happy. I am so appreciative of what I have learned from Marv; it has not only helped me to become a more confident rider, but a better person as well. I highly recommend him to others without reservation.
Sincerely,
Donna Chieppo
When I first started training with Marv, I had brought him a 3 three old for 30 days of training. I had lost my confidence from a previous horse that I had been hurt on. This was a few years ago. In that 30 days he had taught me the foundation of reining on which to build on. I had no intention of reining for competition, at that time, and really only wanted to trail ride, but deep down had always been fascinated with reining. After competing in a reining class in a local fun show in 2004, I was hooked and decided that I wanted to learn more. I joined NWRA and started taking lessons from Marv. I had a long way to go. I just kept getting better and better each show. My scores went from in the mid 50's at the beginning of the year to scoring two over 70 scores. I ended up taking the championship and winning the buckle in one of my classes. Marv has been my mentor and has not only shown me how to ride, but has helped me to develop a great relationship with my horse and has also helped to restore my confidence in riding again. Thanks Marv, without you we could not have done it! I also want to say a big thank you to Tish, his wife. Both have been a great positive influence and made riding and competing fun!
